VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Vancouver animal control officials say a pit bull that killed an English bulldog in front of the owners was put down last week.

The Vancouver Columbian reported that the pit bull had attacked 7-year-old Gracie after coming off its owner's leash.

Gracie's owners were walking their dog and had stopped to get the mail when the pit bull first lunged at the family, which included two 6-year-old girls.

The pit bull eventually killed Gracie after latching onto the dog's neck for about a half hour.

The attack happened in front of Gracie's home.
