Defendant in Montesano courthouse attack competent
A Lewis County judge ruled Wednesday that 34-year-old Steven D. Kravetz of McCleary can be tried on attempted murder and assault charges. His lawyer, David Arcuri, argued that Kravetz couldn't focus on his own defense. He had two mental evaluations.
Kravetz is held on $900,000 bail for arraignment Sept. 7 in Lewis County Superior Court.
The Daily World reported that the violent confrontation last March in Montesano occurred when Kravetz went to the courthouse in an attempt to steal court files related to a 2005 case. In that case doctors attempted to use a catheter on him to get urine for a drug test.
