Whidbey Island Naval Air Station: Military retiree seminar set
A free seminar for military retirees is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Nor’Wester at Ault Field.
Military retirees and their spouses from all service branches are encouraged to attend this annual seminar, which covers earned entitlements, eligibility and legislative changes to programs and services.
Surviving spouses are particularly encouraged to attend this seminar to find out about benefits and resources available to them.
This event is presented by the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Retired Activities Office, in conjunction with the Fleet and Family Support Center.

Sept. 9 fundraiser for veterans
The USS Momsen’s chief selectees plan to offer a car wash from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Old Guard Post 2100, 2711 Oaks Ave., Everett.
Money raised goes to programs for veterans.
Active Duty
Army National Guard Pfc. Cameron Thomas Berlin-Day graduated Aug. 23 from Army National Guard basic training at Fort Benning, Ga. Cameron is the son of Janice Berlin of Edmonds and Thomas Day of Everett. He is 2011 graduate of Edmonds-Woodway High School. He was awarded the Draper Armor Leadership Training Award for excellence in leadership of B Company 1st Battalion 81st Armor Regiment. The award goes to soldiers who demonstrate initiative and fortitude. He also earned a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Armor. Berlin-Day is a Washington State University sophomore. He drills monthly and during the summer with the Army National Guard.
Navy Seaman Kent Baylon, son of Jeanette and Cristeto Baylon of Lake Stevens, recently completed basic training at U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Baylon is a 2009 graduate of Lake Stevens High School.
Navy Seaman Rob Cristi, son of Cristita and Renee Cristi of Marysville, has completed basic training at U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Cristi is a 2011 graduate of Marysville-Pilchuck High School.
Navy Seaman Apprentice Corey Morfeld, son of Meagan Wood of Marysville and Robert Morfeld of Kirkland, has completed basic training at U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Morfeld is a 2011 graduate of Marysville-Pilchuck High School.
Navy Seaman Recruit Carey Balyeat, son of Brenda and Benjamin Balyeat of Marysville, has completed basic training at U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Balyeat is a 2010 graduate of Lake Stevens High School.
Navy Seaman Recruit Cliff Brooke, son of Candy and Robert Brooke of Lake Stevens, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Brooke is a 1999 graduate of Lake Stevens High School and a 2005 graduate of Central Washington University.
