ARLINGTON -- The Smokey Point Branch of Key Bank was robbed late Saturday morning by a suspect who witnesses say displayed a pistol and demanded money.

The suspect threatened to shoot the tellers and aimed the gun at them, said Arlington Police spokeswoman Kristin Banfield. The suspect then fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.

Arlington Police officers, Snohomish County Sheriff's deputies and Stillaguamish Tribal Police officers responded. A Lynnwood Police Department canine team responded and searched the area without success.

The suspect is described as a man, about 5-foot-8-inches tall, with a slender build. He was wearing a light blue or gray zip-up, hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, blue jeans with light fading on the front and yellow stitching on the back pockets and dark or black shoes. The suspect was wearing a black ski mask, scarf or cloth over his face with holes for eyes. He was wearing black gloves and carried a black backpack.

One witness described the suspect's skin around his eyes as being light in color. The suspect's weapon was described as a large-frame pistol. Witnesses said the suspect spoke in short, clipped sentences; his speech was described as possibly having an Asian accent.

Several businesses with video surveillance footage revealed a man matching the suspect's description arriving in the area on a bicycle about 30 minutes before the robbery. Surveillance footage showed the suspect fleeing the scene in a northbound direction on the bicycle immediately after the robbery.

Anyone with information relevant to this investigation or who can identify the suspect depicted in the photo is encouraged to contact the Arlington Police Department at 360-403-3400.
