Jackson’s Emmy Allen is the only player from the state of Washington on John Tawa’s 2013 Senior Aces list.
Allen, who was The Herald’s 2011 Player of the Year, is No. 61 on the list. The outside hitter led the Timberwolves to a victory over third-ranked Bellarmine Prep on Tuesday. According to prepvolleyball.com, Allen has verbally committed to play at Washington State next year.
Also Jackson setter Hayley MacDonald was on the complete 250 player list.
Here’s a look at what PrepVolleyball.com wrote about Allen:
61. Emmy Allen, 6-1 OH, Jackson (Mill Creek, Washington), WVBA – Washington State
Allen is the quintessential volleyball gym rat. The younger sister of Ashley Allen, a former collegiate player who now coaches her in high school, Emmy Allen has been peppering a volleyball since she was old enough to walk. Her time in the game has helped her become one of the smartest at it. Her high volleyball I.Q. combined with her above-average athleticism make Allen a great force on the outside. She won’t shy away from the big
swing, makes very few unforced errors and may be the best “bad set” hitter in the country. A polished all-around player, Allen has great ball control, plays good defense, can hit the fast tempo set from the front or back row, and has become a very good blocker. She continues to improve and has always been a very hard worker in the gym. Her modesty has endeared her to her teammates, who also appreciate her sense of humor. Allen is a
winner and will bring her brains and brawn to Washington State, where her impact should be both immediate and long lasting.
