Blessing of Animals: planned for noon-1:30 p.m. Sunday in parking lot of Lynnwood’s Trinity Lutheran Church, 6215 196th St. SW. The blessing is done in the spirit of Saint Francis of Assisi, who devoted himself to the poor and to animals. Creatures may be on leashes, in cages or carriers, or in photographs. Children may bring stuffed animals. There will be pet treats and a chance to “ask a vet” about pet health. Parents must accompany children.

Fall ministry kickoff: Trinity Lutheran Church in Lynnwood starts fall ministry prgrams with songwriter and children’s poet Eric Ode at the 9 a.m. service Sunday.

A performance by Ode will follow at 10:30 a.m., and a hot dog and corn dog lunch at 11:30 a.m. Adult education begins at 9 a.m. Sunday with “Prayer Styles,” followed by a discussion at 10:30 a.m. based on the book “Life Together” by Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

Back to Church Sunday: Everett’s Destination Christian Church invites the public to its 11 a.m. service Sunday as part of National Back to Church Sunday, an effort to invite “unchurched” people to worship. Intercultural Festival: St. Thomas More Parish in Lynnwood will host its annual Intercultural Festival 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 22. Free event celebrates diversity with foods of many cultures, a display of costumes and artifacts from other countries, folk dancing, children’s activities and a multilingual Mass at 5 p.m. There will also be a raffle with prizes from $250 to $750.
