MUKILTEO — Two Seattle women are grateful they weren’t hurt after a stranger ripped off the spoiler of their vehicle and smashed out the rear window during a road rage incident Sunday.
Washington State Patrol troopers on Tuesday continued to search for the suspect and asked for the public’s help in locating the man.
The incident happened about 6:25 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 525 and Lincoln Way, south of Mukilteo, State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said. The women told police they were southbound on the highway when a black Nissan Cube pulled in front of their Ford Escort and slowed down.
The Ford driver motioned for the other driver to speed up.
Both cars eventually stopped at an intersection. That’s where the suspect reportedly got out of his car, jumped on the back of the women’s car, tore off the spoiler and bashed in the rear window, Leary said. The victims told police they drove off as the suspect was about swing at the woman in the passenger seat. He hit the roof of the car and then threw the spoiler through the broken back window, Leary said.
The women drove for about a mile before calling 911. They were unable to get a license plate for the Nissan.
The suspect is about six feet tall, 200 pounds with a muscular build. He had a shaved head.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the State Patrol at 360-654-1204.
