A pair of must-see shows this weekend

There are two shows this weekend you need to get to.

River Giant and Preacher’s Wife at Sol Food 8 p.m. Friday, all ages, $5: Tonight River Giant plays the back patio at Sol Food Bar &Grill on Hewitt in Everett. The last time River Giant played in Everett they made a serious impression on me and others in attendance. All I heard after their set was new fans saying “they sound like Neil Young. No! Band of Horses.”

I have never been to a show on the patio at Sol but I have eaten back there several times and have been thinking it looked like a great space for a show. Everett band Preacher’s Wife will be kicking the show off around 8:30 p.m., so show up early because you won’t want to miss them and the patio could fill up in a hurry. You don’t want to miss this.

Redhook Brewery Sausage Fest, 4 p.m. Saturday, 21+, $25-$35: Redhook stacked a pretty incredible lineup for their Sausage Fest concert. Everett natives The Moondoggies will be playing along side Portugal. The Man, Cold War Kids and Black Whales.

The Cold War Kids are one of the better live bands I have seen in recent years and in my opinion Portugal. The Man’s “In The Mountain In The Cloud” was the best record out in 2011. This is going to be a great day of music. Redhook Brewery is at 14300 NE 145th St., Woodinville.

The schedule for the day looks like this:

4:00 p.m. Black Whales

5:30 p.m. The Moondoggies

7:00 p.m. Portugal. The Man

9:00 p.m. Cold War Kids
