Arlington Food Bank receives donation
Arlington Food Bank volunteers have been working to raise money for a new building. To help out, Dr. Devin Brossard of Symmetry Chiropractic in the Smokey Point neighborhood made a donation.
In his first month as a chiropractor, Brossard raised more than $400 for the food bank. He waived the first day's fees for new patients and asked instead that each patient donate $25 to the food bank. People can continue to donate food or money to the food bank at its current location, 18810 59th Drive NE, Suite B, Arlington, WA 98223.
South End String Band plays for benefits
South End String Band of Camano Island has volunteered their time over the years to play many benefits, including those for the Josephine Sunset Home, the Stanwood Area Historical Society, South Camano Grange and the Schack Arts Center in Everett. The band is set to play again for the arts center fundraiser "Beer and Brats Night" scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Schack, 2921 Hoyt Ave. For more information about tickets to the event, go to www.schack.org.
Band members include Erich Schweiger on fiddle, Monika Denasha on the banjo and guitar, Bill Gum on bass, Barry Gum on mandolin and Jack Archibald on banjo.
