Gold Bar: City Council position vacant
Gold Bar City Councilman Christopher Wright resigned from his seat during the council’s Sept. 18 meeting.
Wright, a project manager at the Boeing Co., said he needed to focus on a professional management program he has entered at the University of Washington. He also said he also wanted to spend time with his young son, Lincoln.
Wright’s contributions since being sworn into office in January 2010 included leading efforts to pass an aggressive panhandling ordinance and revising the city’s ordinance for appropriate use of parks and public property.
Wright is the second person on the five-member City Council to resign this year. Councilman Charles Lie left office in January. It took the city until June, with help from the Snohomish County Council, to appoint Elizabeth LaZella to Lie’s position.
The city is accepting applications for Wright’s seat. Gold Bar residents can apply by sending a letter of interest to City Hall, at 107 Fifth St., or by emailing Mayor Joe Beavers at j.beavers@cityofgoldbar.us.
