Man who killed state park ranger in traffic crash sentenced
The Kitsap Sun reported that Charles Sherman was sentenced Tuesday in Port Orchard in the death of Ranger Edward Johanson.
Judge Anna Laurie gave Sherman 41 months, the maximum penalty in the state's recommended range.
According to charging documents, Sherman was high on marijuana, methamphetamine and amphetamine when the car he was driving struck the car in which Johanson was heading home from work. The ranger died as emergency crews tried to free him from his vehicle.
Sherman apologized to Johanson's family, saying the fatal crash is "something I have nightmares about."
