EVERETT -- A man who collapsed while chasing a robber Wednesday afternoon has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home, officials said Thursday.

The man, 69, was with his wife, 70, when she was robbed of her wallet around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday outside the Safeway at 75th Street SE and Evergreen Way.

They were leaving the store with their groceries when the suspect grabbed a wallet from the woman's hand and ran, police said.

The man chased after the suspect for about a block and a half but then suffered a medical problem and collapsed. He was taken to a local hospital.

The suspect was described as white, about 5-foot-9 and in his late teens.

Anyone with information should call 911, Everett police at 425-257-8450 or Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound at 1-800-222-TIPS.
