Gold Bar attorney refiles Reardon recall petition

EVERETT -- A Gold Bar blogger and attorney has refiled her petition seeking to recall Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon.

The Snohomish County Auditor's Office on Friday received the paperwork from Anne Block and served notice on Reardon, Chief Deputy Auditor Connie Barndt said. The county Prosecuting Attorney's Office has 15 days to process the paperwork.

The new petition is nearly identical to previous recall petitions Block has filed, alleging that Reardon misused county staff, cell phones and computers for his 2011 re-election campaign.

In August, a Skagit County Superior Court judge dismissed Block's first petition because she failed to swear out her allegations under oath. Block filed a second petition in August, but soon withdrew it because of difficulty scheduling a hearing date.

Under Washington law, a recall petition must present well-founded assertions of wrongdoing in office to remove an elected official from his or her job.
