Rain garden design: The WSU Snohomish County Extension is offering two free workshops. Put Your Garden to Bed and Get ready for the Rain is from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 16, and a rain garden design class is from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 23. Dividing dahlias: Learn how to do it properly and store tubers for the winter with Kathy Willson of Swede Hill Dahlia Sunflower Farm, 11 a.m. to noon Oct. 27 at Meerkerk Gardens. Admission is $5. Master gardener program: The WSU-Snohomish County Extension Master Gardener application deadline for the 2013 training class is Nov. 5. Training includes 80 hours of classroom and workshop instruction every Thursday from January through March as well as online instruction. Classes are held at the Extension Office at 600 128th St., at McCollum Park, Everett.
