Gospel Light anniversary: Gospel Light Church in downtown Everett celebrates its 70th anniversary at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Daniel Waldrop will speak, and pastors Newton Waldrop and Jared Waldrop will take part in the worship service, representing three generations. There will be a historical display and fellowship after the service. Church is at 2801 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.
Old-time hymns: Pianist Phyllis Wickliff of Indiana will perform a free concert of traditional hymns at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Unity Center for Positive Living, 3231 Colby Ave., Everett. Selections include “Amazing Grace,” “Sweet By and By,” “Just a Closer Walk With Thee” and many more. Offering will be taken.
Whidbey Vigil of Peace: Ninth annual Interfaith Vigil of Peace and Hope will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Augustine’s-in-the-Woods Episcopal Church, 5217 S. Honeymoon Bay Road, Freeland. Karl Olsen, music minister at Whidbey’s Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of the Brothers Four group, will sing folk hymns. Vigil will include biblical Scripture readings and Buddhist chanting. Other churches and groups involved in the vigil are Tahoma One Drop Zen Buddhist Monastery, Langley Methodist Church, St. Hubert’s Catholic Church, Whidbey Friends Worship Group (Quakers) and Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island.
Advance Care Planning: St. Alban’s Episcopal church in Edmonds will host “Advance Care Planning” starting with a free 11:45 a.m. lunch Sunday. Program will cover planning for a health crisis and end-of-life care. Presenters are Susanne Kromberg, spiritual care manager at Swedish/Edmonds Hospital, and Julia Rouse, a clinical nurse educator. Free film: Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Church will host a showing of Drew Emery’s award-winning film “Inlaws &Outlaws,” which challenges stereotypes through stories of four couples, both gay and straight, at 7 p.m. Oct. 19. Free and open to all. Church is at 8109 224th SW, Edmonds.
Norwegian pancake breakfast: Ebenezer Lutheran Church will host a pancake breakfast 7:30-10:30 a.m. Oct. 20 and third Saturday of each month at 2111 117th Ave. NE, Lake Stevens. Cost is $5 per person; free for children under 4.
Interfaith shelter fundraiser: The Interfaith Association of Northwest Washington will host its annual “Always a Time to Bloom” dinner event to support the Family Shelter at 6 p.m. Oct. 23 at Lynnwood’s Trinity Lutheran Church, 6215 196th St. SW, Lynnwood. Event includes a buffet dinner, dessert dash, silent auction and ways to support the shelter for homeless families. Tickets $25 per person; tables of eight $150.
