Latest on City Arts Fest and other local music news

It’s time to check in with the local music community and see what’s been going on and what’s coming up.

City Arts Fest news
City Arts Fest is currently going on in Seattle and all Music, Arts, and VIP wristbands are now sold out, however single tickets to shows and arts events, and Culture Club passes are still on sale. If there is a show you want to see during City Arts Fest, you should check with the venue soon before the single show tickets are all gone.

Jet City Stream has a new DJ
Seattle SuperSonic legend Shawn Kemp is the newest DJ over at Jet City Stream. That’s right. The Reign Man himself will be hosting a hip hop show every Wednesday at 7 p.m. called Off The Record that will start next week.

I’m trying to grab a few minutes to sit down with Mr. Kemp (which is what I will be calling him when I meet him) soon to ask him some questions about his new show and probably talk about his thoughts on the new arena deal.

In other Jet City Stream news, the JCS iPhone app came out this week and it is pretty slick. Cruise over to the app store to try it out and hear some great local music.

New music news
Everett band I Will Keep Your Ghost played the Anchor Pub a couple of weeks back and closed an amazing set with this great cover of the 1959 hit ‘Dream Lover’ by Bobby Darin. You have to check this out. I am so excited for the new I Will Keep Your Ghost EP that will be coming soon.

Kris Orlowski and Andrew Joslyn released their “Pieces We Are” EP this week that got as high as #13 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter charts. It only costs $4.95 and you should go buy it because it’s pretty darn good.

This week Kris released a new video for his song ‘Mountains’ and in the video he is getting some help from friends like Allen Stone, Daniel Blue and others. Check it out below:

In other new music news, Everett/Seattle band The Moondoggies are in the studio wrapping up their new record. I will be dropping in on them (completely invited of course) next week to see how things are going and hopefully bring back an interview, some photos and maybe a short video if I’m lucky.
