Loyal Heights Community Club's annual fall bazaar is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, at the club's hall, 4305 269th Place NE. The nonprofit club is celebrating its 76th anniversary year.

Darrington: Dance set for Saturday
The next Darrington Community Dance is Saturday at the Mansford Grange, located behind the IGA grocery store off Highway 530. A potluck is set for 5:30 p.m., followed by a lesson at 7 and the dance at 7:30. Suggested donation is $7 to pay the band, the caller and the sound man.
Edmonds: Highway 99 work open house
People interested in learning about a project to remake the corridor where 228th Street SW meets Highway 99 are welcome to attend an open house at 5:30 p.m. Thursday on the bottom floor of the Edmonds city public works building, 7110 210th St..
The addition would link Highway 99 to 76th Avenue West. It also would add new traffic signals where the highway meets 228th Street SW and 76th Avenue West. Additionally, planned work includes extending a portion of the Highway 99 median to restrict left-hand turns and to improve safety. The new stretch of 228th Street will include sidewalks and bike lanes.

Lakewood: School board member resigns
Lakewood School Board director Ken Christiansen has announced plans to resign from his position representing Lakewood's third district. His resignation is effective Dec. 19. Christiansen has been serving on the school board since 2001. The school board is seeking qualified applicants for Christiansen's seat. Lakewood, WA 98259 or delivered to 17110-16th Drive NE, Marysville. Interviews for qualified applicants are scheduled for the Dec. 5 school board meeting. To serve past the remainder of the term, until November 2013, the individual appointed would need to file for election in June 2013.

Lynnwood: Council to tour train yard
Lynnwood City Council members plan to meet at 10 p.m. today to tour the Sound Transit train yard at 3407 Airport Way S., Seattle. Sound Transit is considering a site on 52nd Avenue W. in Lynnwood, near I-5 and the park-and-ride lot, for a similar yard. The $250 million project would construct storage and maintenance buildings for train cars for when light rail is expanded throughout the region. It's scheduled to reach Lynnwood in 2023. Sound Transit also is looking at four locations in Bellevue and will select one of these or the one in Lynnwood.
Stanwood: Music help
The Stanwood-Camano Area Foundation is accepting applications from middle school and high school students to help pay for musical instruments or lessons. Applications are due by Nov. 11. The Bruce W. Kollmar Band Support Scholarship was established in memory of the Stanwood School District's former band director. The Jon Metzger Scholarship was established by his family.
