SEATTLE — The Justice Department’s top officials in Washington state have appointed prosecutors to monitor complaints of election fraud and voting rights abuses.
Seattle U.S. Attorney Jenny Durkan has named assistant U.S. attorney Arlen Storm handle complaints in the Western District of Washington, and Spokane U.S. Attorney Michael Ormsby said Storm’s counterpart in the Eastern District will be Alex Ekstrom.
Durkan said it’s part of a nationwide effort by the department to make sure every citizen can vote without interference, harassment or discrimination, and that no vote go uncounted because of fraud. The FBI also has agents assigned to receive any complaints.
Washington is an all vote-by-mail state, so there aren’t polling places to monitor. But the prosecutors here say they still want to ensure the integrity of the process.
