The Sisco Heights Community Group is searching for historic photographs of Sisco, a community near Arlington at the turn of the 20th century that had a post office, school and store, among other buildings.
Sisco was situated east of 67th Avenue NE, between Wade Road and 172nd Street NE.
Today, the area is marked by a rest stop along the Centennial Trail at the Quil Ceda Creek Watershed Interpretive Site and a newer home, said Don King, who lives in what is now known as the Sisco Heights neighborhood.
The school taught more than 20 children before it closed around 1925, King said. The community showed up on maps up until around 1910.
Sisco was settled by Silenus W. Sisco, a native-New Yorker who married the daughter of a Marysville physician, and who served as a justice of the peace in addition to owning Sisco’s store, King said.
If you have any photos of the school or other historic Sisco buildings, call King at 360-658-8107.
“Everybody probably has something tucked away in their Bibles,” King said. “You never know what you may find.”
