Base plans drills
Security drills are planned in the harbor around Naval Station Everett from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
The exercise will include security boat maneuvers and the use of automatic weapon blank rounds to increase training realism. There will be pyrotechnic visual and sound effects. No live ammunition will be used.
Base fire and medical personnel will practice responding to simulated mass injuries. Providence Regional Medical Center Colby Campus will participate in the exercise by receiving patients.
The purpose of the exercise is to maintain and improve qualifications of personnel who are charged with protecting the base, naval vessels and maritime environment. There will be a 500-yard safety zone in effect and a broadcast notice to mariners in the area will be transmitted before and during the exercise.
For more information, contact the base public affairs officer Kristin Ching at 425-304-3202.
