State pays $65,000 to settle records lawsuit
The Washington Coalition for Open Government said the agencies violated the Public Records Act in an attempt to cover up help they gave corrections officers who were trying to stop public records about them from going to a prison inmate.
The Seattle Times reported thart Monday's settlement of the 2010 lawsuit was not an admission of guilt. A spokesman for the state attorney general's office called it a risk management decision to avoid going to court.
