SEATTLE — Authorities say two sailings of the Washington state ferry Kitsap were canceled Monday evening after a passenger reported seeing a man carrying a backpack with a black box inside.
KING-TV reported that as the boat was docking in Seattle, the passenger noticed the man had dropped the box. The passenger reported confronting the man, who supposedly ran off the boat when it docked.
The State Patrol said troopers swept the boat for more than an hour. Bomb-sniffing dogs and a review of security video turned up nothing suspicious.
The ferry resumed normal operations.
