Hanford Reach chinook
State Fish and Wildlife Department personnel contacted 659 anglers in 276 boats last week on the Hanford Reach section of the Columbia, upriver from the Tri-Cities, with 353 adult chinook and 167 jacks.
The state officials estimated a total of 1,548 adult fall kings and 732 jacks were caught for the week -- a rate of about 1.9 chinook per boat. All areas of the reach continue to report strong catches, according to state biologist Paul Hoffarth in Pasco.
The current in-season run forecast for the Reach is for 69,000 adult kings.
