A champion will perform Sunday at Everett Public Library. A champion fiddler, that is.
Sarah Comer is a Washington State Young Adult Old-Time Fiddler champ and she'll bring her old-time tunes and fiddle to the library for a free performance.
"I really enjoy getting to pass on the tradition that was shared with me, and help to keep old-time fiddle music alive and thriving in the Northwest," Comer said on her website.
Comer, who gives private lessons and is a teacher at Pierce Community College, describes old-time fiddle music as traditional music played across America that has a "danceability" to it.
Besides playing tunes, Comer will impart some wisdom about why these old-time songs matter today.
Comer performs at 2 p.m. Sunday at Everett's Main Library Auditorium, 2702 Hoyt Ave., Everett.
Admission is free.
