Terrace council member named to health board
Kyoko Matsumoto Wright, who has been on the Mountlake Terrace City Council since 2008, takes the place of former council member Michelle Robles, who quit the City Council earlier this year citing personal reasons.
"I look forward to learning more about public health and concerns the public may have," Wright said in a statement. "I am interested in helping people improve their health. I want to be an informed advocate for our public health needs."
The board sets countywide public health policy, enacts and enforces local public health regulations and carries out other duties of local boards of health.
These duties include preventing and controlling the spread of infectious disease, abating nuisances and establishing fee schedules for licenses, permits and other services.
The board overseeing the health district is composed of the five Snohomish County Council members and 10 representatives from the incorporated cities within Snohomish County.
Established in 1959, the Snohomish Health District works for a safer and healthier Snohomish County through disease prevention, health promotion and protection from environmental threats. For more information, go to www.snohd.org.
