Boeing snags 737 MAX commitment; Airbus wins A330 order
Russia's Aviation Capital Services has placed a tentative order for 35 Boeing Co. 737 MAX jets, the companies said Tuesday.
The order is valued at $3 billion at list prices, though jet makers tend to offer discounts. Boeing said it will post the request on its orders website when the agreement has been finalized.
"This is the first commitment for the 737 MAX from Russia and (Commonwealth of Independent States), which is one of the commercial aviation industry's fastest-growing regions," Ray Conner, president of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said in a statement.
Boeing has 858 orders for its refreshed 737 MAX jet.
Boeing's rival Airbus won an order for two of its A330 passenger planes from Etihad Airways, the jet maker said Tuesday.
“Winning a fifth repeat order from Etihad for A330s is without a doubt a strong endorsement for the aircraft's unique combination of unbeatable economics, versatility and fuel efficiency,” John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers, said in a statement.
Etihad also decided to switch a previous order for seven A320s to A321s, the airline said.
