BOTHELL — An Edmonds man shot by police in north King County on Friday after a slow-speed pursuit is expected to recover, officials said Wednesday.
Robert A. Marvin, 68, remains at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Police on Wednesday provided an update on Marvin’s condition and what happened Friday afternoon.
Three police agencies were involved in the almost six-mile pursuit after Marvin’s wife reported he was suicidal and had left their Edmonds house with a weapon.
When Marvin refused to stop, a spike strip was used to flatten the passenger side tires on his GMC Sierra, said Everett police officer Aaron Snell, a spokesman for the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team, which handles officer-involved shootings.
Shortly thereafter, the GMC stopped near a golf course in the 16700 block of 96th Avenue NE in Bothell. Marvin allegedly refused to get out of the vehicle and displayed a weapon out the window, Snell said.
Shots were fired and Marvin was struck several times, Snell said. The exact number of bullet wounds has not been disclosed.
Although still at Harborview, Marvin is in police custody and has been arrested for investigation of second-degree assault.
The officers involved in the shooting are a 22-year veteran of the Edmonds Police Department and a Mountlake Terrace police sergeant with 16 years of experience. Both are on administrative leave during the investigation.
