Arlington: ‘Messiah’ choir rehearsals
Handel’s “Messiah” is to be performed at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at Byrnes Performing Arts Center. Vocalists and instrumentalists are encouraged to join the Arlington Community Choir, which forms every other year to present the musical masterpiece.
Weekly rehearsals begin Monday, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., in the choir room at Arlington High School, 18821 Crown Ridge Blvd.

Camano Island: Take a guided walk
Join Friends of Camano Island Parks members on a guided two-hour community walk, rain or shine, at Camano Island State Park.
Meet at 9:50 a.m. Saturday at the picnic shelter near the boat ramp at the park. Trail booklets and maps are to be available for $1. A park pass is required, but a temporary is provided by the parks group.

Everett: Hear state poet laureate at EvCC
Washington state poet laureate Kathleen Flenniken and Everett Community College instructor Bethany Reid plan to read from their works from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday in the Jackson Center Wilderness Room at the college. The event is free and open to the public.
Index: Puppet show to benefit museum
People can enjoy a Chinese puppet theater show and also help fund programs at the Index Museum at the same time.
The Dragon Art Studio is set to perform 2 p.m. Nov. 10, at Index Elementary School, 436 Index Ave. Tickets cost $5 and can be purchased at the door.
Dragon Art Studio performs traditional Chinese folk tales and other stories using hand-crafted rod puppets. The show is for all ages.
The show is sponsored by Northwest Heritage resources, the Ethnic Heritage Council and the Index Historical Society.

Stanwood Area Historical Society presents its annual Swedish pancake or Belgian waffle breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon Saturdayat the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center, 27130 102nd Ave. NW.
Current exhibits at the museum include women’s fashions from the 1890s through the 1960s.The society’s 2013 calendar is available for $10.
