State, feds hooked on sin taxes

It's all about the money isn't it? The various government health departments have been waging a long war against the evils of smoking. Pointing out the burden on health providers, the loss of man-hours and the misery that smoking-related diseases bring to imbibers. But the truth is the last thing the government wants is for the population to quit smoking. The revenues they get from it are enormous. The same will happen with marijuana. The governments, federal and local, will reap a harvest of taxes and, to pretend they care, will launch a campaign exposing its evils knowing that, as in the case of tobacco, nobody will take the slightest notice of it.
We ought to have a "smokers" day to thank them for their sacrifice for the common good.
