BELLINGHAM -- Port officials in Bellingham say a female worker with the Alaska Marine Highway ferry system was injured while helping load a ferry at the Bellingham dock.

The Bellingham Herald said witnesses report that the unidentified worker was injured Friday afternoon in an accident involving a passenger ramp that was being lowered into place on the ferry Columbia.

She was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with multiple injuries. Her condition was not immediately available.

Port officials said the ferry suffered some minor damage. Its departure was delayed.
