SPOKANE -- The Spokane City Council has approved the use of electric golf carts on streets in the Hillyard neighborhood in northeast Spokane.

The measure approved Monday allows the carts on residential streets where the speed limit is 25 mph or lower.

The Spokesman-Review reported that golf cart drivers are required to register with the city, pay a $50 annual fee and carry liability insurance.
