Scouting report: Mount Si

How they got here: Mount Si rolled over Auburn Mountainview 52-7 in the quad-district playoffs to advance to state.

Player to watch: Nick Mitchell, QB: Mitchell set school records for passing touchdowns in a game (5) and passing touchdowns in a season (24). Glacier Peak will have to slow down the aerial assault of Mitchell and receiver Trent Riley — Mitchell’s favorite target — who set a school record with 19 touchdowns this season.

Biggest win: Mount Si 30, Kennedy 0. It may have been the first game of the season for the Wildcats, but it was also the only loss of the year for a Kennedy team that is ranked and just beat Mountlake Terrace last weekend to advance to state. Mount Si had little trouble with any opponent on its scheduled this season, giving up just 45 points in its nine victories. The Wildcats lone loss was a 49-10 drubbing at the hands of Bellevue.

Key to the game: Glacier Peak must continue to stay balanced offensively. Establishing the running game with Michael Palmer and the passing game with QB Chris Becerra and an array of receivers, including Sean Elledge will be extremely important. The offense can’t afford to make mistakes against a Mount Si team that can put up points in a hurry. Defensively, the Grizzlies were great last week against a run-first Seattle Prep team, but this week they will need their secondary to step up as the Wildcats like to throw the ball. This game has the makings of a shootout and the Grizzlies have proven with victories over Jackson and Marysville Pilchuck that they can win a shootout.

Pick: Glacier Peak 35, Mount Si 34
