Scouting report: Skyline

How they got here: Skyline easily beat Puyallup in a quad-district playoff game.

Player to watch: Max Browne, QB: The Southern Cal commit is the No. 1-ranked QB in Washington and No. 2 in the western United States. The pocket passer just set the career completions state record with his 805th completion in the playoff win over Puyallup. Browne has thrown for 2,693 yards, 29 TDs and just three interceptions in leading the defending champions back to the state playoffs.

Biggest win: Skyline 34, Bothell 7. With the Cougars looking for revenge after losing to Skyline in the season opener, the Spartans quieted those ideas by jumping out to a 34-0 lead en route to a victory that cemented the Kingco title for Skyline.

Key to the game: If Lake Stevens defensive backs don’t stick with Skyline wide receivers and the defensive line doesn’t get any pressure on Browne this is going to be a long night. Conversely, Austin Otis and the Vikings offensive line must pound the rock and wear the clock down to keep the ball out of Browne’s hands.

Pick: Skyline 45, Lake Stevens 27
