FEDERAL WAY— Archbishop Murphy freshman diver Riley Krueger finished in fifth place and Kaelee McCloskey took fifth in the 500 freestyle to help lead the Wildcatso a 16th-place finish in the 2A State Meet on Saturday.
“We were very happy,” said Wildcats head coach Michael McCloskey. “We only had two girls (on the team) at the start of the year and now we have seven girls compete at state. Four swimmers and three divers, including two rookie divers.”
For Krueger, her fifth-place finish was even more eventful considering her transition into diving.
“Riley was previously a gymnast”, added McCloskey. “Some gymnast’s can make the adjustments (to diving). You gotta learn how take that board, and she did, she has a real grace about it.”
