Mattawa man held on suspicion of child rape

MATTAWA -- The Grant County Sheriff's office says a Mattawa man has been jailed on suspicion of raping his daughter.
Deputies were called to the home Saturday night after a woman reported her child had been raped. The girl was taken to a Yakima hospital where she underwent surgery for her injuries. Another child living in the home was also taken to the hospital for unspecified injuries.
The sheriff's office said Monday the woman and her husband had been involved in a domestic violence dispute. She fled to a relative's nearby home for help and returned to a short time later to find evidence her daughter had been raped.
Authorities did not identify the man to protect the victim's identity.
The man was held at Grant County Jail.
