Ballot counting continues in Alaska
Election officials are counting absentee and question ballots, and the results could bring closure to a handful of still-tight races.
On the House side, just 96 votes separated Reps. Lance Pruitt and Pete Petersen of Anchorage. Pruitt, a Republican, was recently named House majority leader, speaking to his party's confidence in how his race will shake out. Political newcomer Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins held a 43-vote edge of Republican Rep. Bill Thomas of Haines.
Meanwhile, Sen. Hollis French clung to a 247-vote lead over Republican Bob Bell, and former lawmaker Pete Kelly led Democratic Sen. Joe Paskvan of Fairbanks. Kelly has already been named co-chair of the Senate Finance Committee.
