A couple of weeks ago, I watched a program on TV called “What the World is Worth” on the history channel.
According to the scientists who created the program, all of the gold, silver and platinum on the earth, under the earth, dissolved in the oceans and in human hands is worth about 14.8 trillion dollars. Right now our national debt exceeds 16 trillion and climbing. Every two to three months we overspend by an amount that totals more gold than is stored in the vaults of Fort Knox.
It’s been a long time coming and yes, both political parties are at fault – its just a matter of degrees. But if we don’t stop the madness and release the engines of commerce and creative capitalism, then, to paraphrase Sir Edward Grey ” The lamps are going out all over America. We shall not see them lit again in our time.”
