Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire has appointed Bob Bolerjack of Lake Stevens to the Everett Community College board of trustees. Bolerjack recently joined the Snohomish County PUD as a public relations and media liaison after nearly 25 years in leadership positions at The Daily Herald, including 10 years as editorial page editor.
Lynnwood-based Sparling has announced the return of 20-year Sparling veteran Arne Berger as chief operations officer after a three-year absence. Berger's previous leadership was instrumental in growing Sparling from a 34-person electrical-engineering firm to a 130-employee multidisciplinary firm.
Kudos
The Zonta Club of Everett has honored former club member Darlene Conkle of Mukilteo as the 2012 Founders Day award recipient. Conkle was recognized for years of service as a tireless recruiter of new members, as well as years of volunteer service to community organizations, including the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival, Mukilteo Kiwanis and Mukilteo Farmer's Market.
Library Place Apartments have been named the winner of the MultiFamily Development of the Year award from the Commercial Real Estate Development Association. Library Place is a 200-unit apartment complex adjacent to the main branch of the Everett Public Library. Factors for the award included quality of design, quality of construction and contribution to the surrounding neighborhood.
Good deeds
Wells Fargo & Co. employees have donated $1.4 million to nonprofit organizations and schools in Washington as part of the company's annual Community Support and United Way Campaign. Wells Fargo matches gifts up to $5,000 to qualifying schools.
The Lynnwood Food Bank was recently presented with a $250 donation from AFSCME Local 3035/Council 2, which represents members of the City of Lynnwood. Union members have supported the food bank for several years.
Events
Crown Distributing of Arlington has announced two local appearances of the famous Budweiser Clydesdales. Both events are open to the public. The big horses will be in the parking lot of the Navy Exchange in Marysville from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday and in the Smokey Point-Arlington Walmart parking lot from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The Edmonds Chamber of Commerce will host the November session of 425 Launch Entrepreneurs' Forum, which will focus on "The Ten Mistakes Smart Entrepreneurs Avoid." Travis Snider of BETS Consulting will be the featured speaker. The session will be at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 28 in the Edmonds City Hall Brackett Meeting Room. It is free and open to the public.

November's Web chats hosted by the U.S. Small Business Association are "Holiday Marketing Tips & Ideas" with Caron Beesley at 10 a.m. on today and "Getting Your Small Business Ready for the Tax Filing Season" with Edward S. The Western Washington University Master of Business Administration Program will host an information session for prospective MBA applicants at 6 p.m. Nov. 27 at the Renaissance Seattle Hotel Seneca Room. No reservations are needed and refreshments will be served.
The Edmonds Community College Discover Project Management open house is from 6 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 5 in Snohomish Hall 304, 20000 68th Ave. W. in Lynnwood. Project-management certification complements careers in business management, construction management, energy management, event planning, economics, occupational safety, engineering and international business.

Western Washington Medical Group has added Marysville Family Medicine to the group effective Jan. 1. WWMG has family practice care centers in downtown Everett and in the Silver Lake area. Lake Serene Clinic, a WWMG affiliate, offers primary care and a walk-in clinic in the Lynnwood area.
