50 years ago (1962)

Monte Richards of Claremont Music last evening received a special award from Lowery Organ Co., during the intermission of the organ concert presented by Everett Junior Chamber of Commerce in the Civic Auditorium. It was for outstanding achievement in his work.

Dedication of a marble plaque in memory of P.A. Wright, Snohomish school superintendent from 1924 to 1948 would be tomorrow by the Snohomish Kiwanis Club at Snohomish High School. Looking over the plaque were Roy Fritch, Kiwanis president; George Moore, Snohomish superintendent; and Pete Jensen, high school teacher.

25 years ago (1987)

Everett Engineering Inc. was awarded a potential $1.37 million contract to repair and waterproof the doors of the aircraft carrier Nimitz and its escort ships. The repairs would be done while the Nimitz was being overhauled in Bremerton, said Dan Martin, president and owner of Everett Engineering.

Frances Anderson's 97th birthday was celebrated with a festive gathering at the Frances Anderson Center in Edmonds. Mayor Larry Naughten joined others to sing "Happy Birthday" to the longtime educator and arts patron and honor her with cake during an open house.
