Deputy injured in rollover crash released from hospital

EVERETT -- A Snohomish County sheriff's deputy injured in a rollover crash Monday evening has been released from the hospital, officials said.
The deputy, a 12-year law enforcement veteran, was making a U-turn in front of Mariner High School about 4:30 p.m. to follow a silver BMW that was being driven recklessly, sheriff's spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
The deputy lost control of the car. It flipped, coming to rest against a tree. He suffered serious injuries and had to be cut from the car by emergency crews.
The BMW crashed shortly after the deputy did, and the driver ran off. No arrests had been made in the case as of Tuesday afternoon. The deputy's name was not released.
