EVERETT -- Several businesses sustained water damage Tuesday evening after a water main break in south Everett.
The break was reported about 8:30 p.m. in the 11300 block of Evergreen Way, said Marla Carter, a city public works spokeswoman. An unknown amount of water flowed for about an hour before service was shut off to roughly eight businesses.
The water was turned back on about 5 a.m. Wednesday, after crews had repaired the 12-inch pipe, she said. Damaged businesses included a grocery store and an automotive shop.
The city was working with the businesses on cleanup, she said. Affected businesses likely will submit damage claims.
The state Department of Health also was notified.
