Future of Flight executive to retire next year

Barry Smith, the man who helped launch the Future of Flight Aviation Center and Boeing Tour, has announced plans to retire at the end of 2013.

Smith has served as executive director of the Future of Flight Foundation since December 2003. Prior to his work with Future of Flight, Smith spent 30 years as a private banker who worked with aviation non-profits. He founded the Everett Parks Foundation, the American Foundation for the Royal Air Force Museum and cofounded of the Greater Everett Community Foundation.

The aviation center opened in 2005 and expects to make of profit of $250,000 this year.
