New talks to end symphony strike
If the dispute isn't resolved in the next week, symphony officials say "The Nutcracker" will be performed with recorded music instead of a live orchestra. The Spokesman-Review reports the holiday favorite opens on Dec. 6.
Musicians have been on strike since Nov. 3, leading to five symphony cancellations.
The symphony has proposed a two-year contract that includes a 13.3 percent pay cut. The musicians have offered to take a 6.6 percent pay cut.
