PORTLAND, Ore. — A climber who was stranded in a whiteout in Mount Hood is safely off the mountain in good condition.
A Clackamas County sheriff’s dispatcher says the rescue team that found Jeff Kish around midnight had him back to the command post around 2 a.m. Thursday. He did not need any medical attention.
The 30-year-old Portland man had called for help by cell phone on his way down from the summit of the 11,239-foot peak. He said he was lost in a snow whiteout. He also posted his situation on his Facebook page.
The Portland Mountain Rescue team found him following the cell phone GPS location.
