Cold case documented
Investigation Discovery’s all-new series, “Motives &Murders: Cracking the Case,” will feature a Snohomish County cold case homicide that was solved this year. The show, which airs at 9 p.m. Saturday, follows the 1979 murder of Susan Schwarz.
The Lynnwood-area woman’s killer was convicted this year of murder and sentenced to 24 years in prison. The show will feature interviews with the Snohomish County sheriff’s detectives who worked the case and Schwarz’s siblings. Lighthouse gift shop: The Mukilteo Lighthouse gift shop is scheduled to be open from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and again on Dec. 8 and Dec. 15 for holiday shopping.
The gift shop carries lighthouse clothing, ornaments, license plate holders, mugs, cards and much more. Proceeds support maintenance of the lighthouse and grounds.
Santa Claus is scheduled to pay a visit to the lighthouse from 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 8.
Free World AIDS Day events: The public is welcome to free events in downtown Everett on Fridayto commemorate World AIDS Day 2012. A collaboration of local agencies is sponsoring a resource fair, HIV testing, a memorial walk, and an evening program that includes refreshments, artwork and music. All activities take place at the Snohomish Health District, 3020 Rucker Ave., Everett.
Here is the schedule of events: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. — free or low-cost confidential rapid HIV testing; noon-6 p.m. — Community health resource tables; 5-6:30 p.m. — light refreshments catered by Ross Day; 5:30 p.m. — Walk to Everett’s AIDS Memorial at 3021 Wetmore Ave.; 6:30 p.m. — World AIDS Day Program.
