Annual day of honor for veterans
The Stillaguamish Valley Pioneer Museum plans its 12th annual Military Day to honor all military veterans, including those who are on active duty.
The event is to be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday in Pioneer Hall, 20722 67th Ave. NE. A brief ceremony is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. and the museum’s military display will be open.
Veterans are encouraged to attend and enjoy cookies and coffee.

Active Duty
Air Force Airman Kele Kaminski graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Kaminski earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Dale Kaminski and Rochelle Black of Sultan. The airman is a 2011 graduate of Sultan High School.
Air Force Airman Mark R. Jones graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Jones is the son of Randy and Donna Jones of Darrington. He is a 2008 graduate of Darrington High School.
Navy Seaman Apprentice Trevor Kenyon, son of James and stepson of Jennifer Kenyon of Marysville, was promoted to his current rank upon graduation from recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Kenyon earned the early promotion for outstanding performance during all phases of the training cycle. Kenyon is a 2012 graduate of Marysville Arts and Technical High School.
Air Force Reserve Tech. Sgt. Michael Scherping has deployed overseas with the 446th Airlift Wing from Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The technical sergeant has served in the military for eight years. He lives in Mill Creek and works as a market development representative for Cintas. He is the son of Drew and Judy Scherping of Lake Stevens and Debbie Dewitt of Vaughn, Wash.
