Prep boys basketball: Meadowdale 39, Mariner 37

LYNNWOOD — Collin Costello hit what would end up being the game-winning 3-pointer with seven seconds remaining as Meadowdale defeated Mariner 39-37 in a nonleague game played on Monday night.

Costello’s shot put the Mavericks up by three. After a timeout the Marauders had one final possesion in which Meadowdale head coach Andy Streit elected to foul Mariner standout Bayek Tutlam instead of allowing the Maruaders a chance to put up a game-tying three. Tutlam made the first of two free-throw’s before intentionally missing the second. The Maruaders collected the offensive rebound before Costello blocked the game’s final shot to seal the victory.

Streit admitting that the key to the victory was his team’s ability to stop Tutlam.

“Charlie White did an amazing job on Bayek,” added Streit. “He’s a great player, and we asked him to step up and try to contain (Tutlam) and he did a good job,”
