Arlington: Hear 'Messiah' Sunday
"Hallelujah" is among the most popular selections in Handel's masterpiece, "Messiah," and it's the closing chorus for the Arlington area community choir and orchestra production Sunday at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center, 18821 Crown Ridge Blvd.
The concert is set for 2:30 p.m. and $5 tickets are to be available at the door before curtain time.
This large choir meets every other year to present a Christmas program featuring selected community musical groups, a Christmas carol sing along and "Messiah."
The Overman Family Singers and 4 This Time girls' chorus are among the other performers.

City's sign code getting updated
The city of Arlington is in the process of updating its sign code regulations and is anticipating their adoption by the City Council in early 2013.
The city's economic development department is making the draft documents available on the city's website for review by the public.

Lynnwood: Fire station party
Firefighters plan an annual holiday party for neighborhood families Saturday at Lake Serene Fire Station 23, 4323 Serene Way.
The party is set to start at 10 a.m. Santa Claus will visit as well.
Donations will be collected for local food banks.
There is a gift exchange planned for children. People planning to participate need to register.

Stanwood: Santa Dash Saturday
Stanwood Lions club's Santa Dash 5K Fun Run and Walk starts at 8 a.m. Saturday at the old Thrifty store, 8815 272nd St. NW, downtown.
Santas of all ages will be running around Stanwood and all are invited to join the fun. Participants can run, jog, walk, dance, roll or jingle your way to the finish line.
Race timing chips will be provided.
Cost is $15 for early registration or $20 the day of the race.
Sign up at Candie's Kids, 8620 271 St. NW. Proceeds support the Lions work in the Stanwood-Camano community, including assistance for the Stanwood Camano Food Bank and sight and hearing programs.

Tulalip: Lions Club crafts sale
Tulalip's annual Native Christmas Bazaar is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Don Hatch Youth Center, 6700 Totem Beach Road, next to the old gymnasium.
The sale usually includes baskets, carvings, native prints, beaded jewelry and drums.
Food offerings include fry bread and Indian tacos by the Tulalip Lions Club for the benefit of its charity programs.
