EvCC will extend holiday closure to cut costs

EVERETT -- Everett Community College will be closed Dec. 22 to Jan. 2 in a cost-cutting move.
The state holidays are Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, but the college is closing nine additional days to save money, said Jennifer Howard, EvCC's vice president of Administrative Services.
The closure includes all college locations and offices and the University Center of North Puget Sound, which is located at EvCC's north Everett campus.
Each day the college is closed saves EvCC about $2,000 in utility costs. Reducing energy costs is one of the many ways EvCC is working to cut costs as it responds to state budget cuts, Howard said.
During the closure, students can continue to register online and buy textbooks at EvCC's website, www.everettcc.edu. Winter quarter starts Jan. 7. For more questions about registration or getting started, go to EvCC's website or contact Enrollment Services at admissions@everettcc.edu or 425-388-9219.
