Bomb scare in Edmonds after robbery suspect crashes truck

EDMONDS -- Police and federal agents flooded downtown Edmonds on Saturday after a Seattle bank robbery suspect crashed a pickup near the ferry dock.
The man, 30, reportedly robbed a Wells Fargo bank on Aurora Avenue in Seattle. During the heist, he warned bank employees that he was carrying a bomb.
The robber fled the bank and carjacked a pickup from the parking lot, Seattle police officials said. The suspect later switched vehicles. The carjack victim was not injured. He told officers the robber drove off in a gold Ford Explorer.
A King County sheriff's deputy later spotted the suspect in Shoreline and gave chase. The suspect led deputies and Edmonds police officer on a high-speed pursuit. He eventually rolled the Explorer near the ferry dock in the 300 block of Admiralty Way.
The suspect was able to crawl out of the vehicle after officers broke out a window. He was arrested.
Officers noticed some suspicious items inside the car. Concerned that there were explosives in the vehicle, bomb squads were summoned to Edmonds.
Detectives concluded that the device wasn't an explosive although it was made to look like a pipe bomb.
